Goal Show the basic structural parameters to optimize the optical properties of materials and the characterization methods used to establish their possible use in some type of optoelectronic or photonic device.
Summary: The structural parameters required to optimize the optical properties of materials and common optical characterization methods will be discussed. Based on the optical and mechanical characteristics of materials, their possible use in the fabrication of photonic devices will be established. Examples of materials and the optimization of their structures to tune their optical characteristics to favor their functioning as active materials will be presented. Some of the methods used to manufacture devices such as solar cells, sensors, light-emitting diodes and nanomaterials will be shown. It is recommended that attendees have knowledge in areas such as chemistry and materials.
