Dr. Gonzalo Campillo Alvarado is an Assistant Professor (Professor-Researcher) at Reed College, a private university in the state of Oregon in the United States, in the area of organic and supramolecular chemistry.
Dr. Campillo was born in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz, where he studied Biological Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the Universidad Veracruzana. He completed his Master's degree in Chemical Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos with Dr. Herbert Hopfl and a PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Iowa, United States, under the direction of Dr. Leonard R. MacGillivray. Before starting his independent career, he completed a postdoctoral stay at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (United States) in the area of flexible electronic materials.
During his professional career, Dr. Campillo Alvarado has published 35 articles in peer-reviewed journals and received a patent in the United States for separation materials. Dr. Gonzalo has received several awards and prizes such as the A. Lynn Anderson Award from the University of Iowa for the best doctoral thesis in chemistry and the Paul R. Sharp Award for the best presentation in inorganic chemistry in 2019 from the American Chemical Society.
